California pastor sent home after daring hotel stunt E-mail
ImageBEIJING, CHINA (ANS) -- Eddie Perez Romero, the La Puente, California pastor who carried out a daring human rights protest in hotel rooms in Beijing during the Olympic Games, is on his way home after being arrested by Chinese authorities.

Romero was taken into custody near Tiananmen Square during a human rights protest and ordered out of the country by Chinese authorities after coming out of hiding following the closing ceremonies. He was put aboard a San Francisco-bound airplane, his daughter said Monday.

Hallmark is rolling out same-sex wedding cards E-mail
The nation's largest greeting card company is rolling out same-sex wedding cards — featuring two tuxedos, overlapping hearts or intertwined flowers, with best wishes inside. "Two hearts. One promise," one says.

Hallmark added the cards after California joined Massachusetts as the only U.S. states with legal gay marriage. A handful of other states have recognized same-sex civil unions.

Factors that affect pastors' salaries E-mail
cash closeup bigA new survey reveals that the average senior pastor in the U.S. makes more than $80,000 a year.

The national survey of pastors and church staff was conducted by the "Your Church Media Group" of Christianity Today International. According to the survey, the compensation and benefits paid to the average senior pastor have risen to $81,113 per year.

Chronicle changes its name E-mail
After ten years publishing under the masthead of The Wichita Chronicle and later The Chronicle Christian Newspaper, the newspaper will change its name. Effective September 1, 2008 the paper will operate as the Christian Press.
