Publishers Russ and Jackie Jones purchased The Wichita Chronicle from founding editors Lynn and Karen McBride in July 2005. The publication has faithfully served the Christian community in south central Kansas for eleven years. Changing its name to the The Chronicle - the paper is the largest Christian newspaper in Kansas featuring news from a Christian perspective and hosts the most exhaustive Christian events calendar for the area. The Chronicle has now grown into one of the largest Christian newspapers in the US with editions in Dallas/N. Texas, Memphis/Mid-South, Indianapolis, Denver and Colorado Springs. Estimated monthly readership is approximately 200,000.
Russ is a University of Missouri journalism graduate and also holds a master of divinity degree from Saint Paul School of Theology. Russ has worked in many different areas of media as well as fulltime ministry positions across the US. Russ was also a former TV reporter at KSNW TV3 - Wichita, Kansas and served as one of former Gov. Mike Hayden's publicity cordinators in the '80's. Russ also teaches Ethics, Philospohy, Mass Communication and World Religions courses at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan. Jackie has significant background in the IT computer industry. After living in northern California for twenty years she moved to Kansas. Jackie also speaks for women's groups on a variety of marriage and family topics.
Russ and Jackie are also founders of BIG Picture Media Group, Inc. - a full service advertising, marketing and public relations firm. Their Kansas facility is also home to BIG Picture Business Center which features a full menu of printing and graphic design services (www.bigpicturemedia.biz). Memberships and Accountability:
The Chronicle is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Newspapers, the Evangelical Press Association and the Newton Chamber of Commerce. The Chronicle depends upon a group of Christian editorial advisors for godly advise and wisdom.
Russ and Jackie have a blended family of four children who enjoy living in the country with horses, chickens and a few heads of cattle. They also enjoy traveling and spending time together discovering new ways to explore God's earth and living joyfully for the Lord.
Our Vision:
We feel God has placed in our hearts a vision to publish the finist Christian newspaper throughout the midwest. October 2005 The Chronicle expanded to Colorado now distributing 25,000 papers in Denver and Colorado Springs. The Chronicle distributes 15,000 papers in Indianapolis. The Chronicle provides an outstanding venue to communicate news as well as market to the Christian community.
