Earlier today, AFA of Indiana faxed a news release to some members of the media.  That news release concerned the incident at Raymond Park Middle School in Indianapolis involving several students and a sex act among two sixth graders while a shop teacher was present in the room.

At about the same time our release went out, Indianapolis TV News Channel 13 posted a story with new comments from the Indiana Department of Education which appear to address the concerns AFA raised last week through a letter hand delivered to Dr. Suellen Reed's office.

Our news release was written last week, on the same day we delivered the letter to Dr. Reed.  That news release sent today did not clearly state that our letter was delivered five days ago.   I hope that our letter along with the concerns of numerous other parents who learned of this incident last week, prompted these new statements from the Department.

In any event we appreciate the change in tone of the Department following disturbing comments by IDOE attorney Kevin McDowell.
